Paperiton ADF is an Automated Document Feeder for Paperiton Document Management System. It is an optional component of the system.

Paperiton ADF is used to automate document addition to the DMS according to your  business rules. The rules are defined once, and after that, the operation of the ADF is automatic.

Where do the documents come from?

It really does not matter where the document comes from, or what system or application has created it. What matters is that it is placed in a way or another into a file system directory configured for the ADF handling.

A typical scenario is that paper documents are scanned as a batch and the resulting documents need to be stored in the Document Management System, according to pre-defined rules.

The documents could also be output from some other computer system, including UNIX or AS/400. The contents could be reports, letters or virtually anything, produced by an already existing system somewhere in your environment.

One possible usage of the ADF is to save nightly reports created as a batch to DMS, and to handle the distribution of those from the Document Management System. In this way, the reports will create a series, safely stored within the DMS, and the users will get the reports fast and easy, without the need to re-run those again and again.

If meta information is available from the original system, like for instance customer numbers or codes, or project numbers, that can be used as a value of a document meta code as needed, linking the document now stored inside Paperiton DMS to the external system and its data.

The handling of the document added by Paperiton ADF can be started automatically. The document can be made into a final version disallowing modifications, it can be routed to a certain user, or added to a Document Process, and so on.
